There are 2 types of 6th Arpeggios:

  1. Major 6th
  2. minor 6th

We describe their Formation and theory below.

Major 6th

Formula:Add major scale’s 6th note with the corresponding Major arpeggio or chord.

Example:

CM6th=C E G+A

In case of C major 6th,the main 3 notes of the arpeggio are C,E,G as we learnt from previous chapters. The arpeggio notes C,E,G are found from its corresponding scale C Major. So now we have to add the 6th note from C major scale which is A with the existing Arpeggio of C major.

C M6th Arpeggio on Guitar:

Task 1:Play C Maj6th On a metronome. tempo 120(4/4 -2 notes in each beat)
Task 2: Find out DM6TH, EM6TH, FM6TH, GM6TH using the same rule and play as Task-1

Minor 6th:

Add MAJOR SCALE’S 6th note with the corresponding minor arpeggio or chord.

Example:

Cm6th=C D# G+A

In case of C minor 6th,the main 3 notes of the arpeggio are C,D#,G as we learnt from previous chapters. The arpeggio notes C,D#,G are found from its corresponding scale C minor. So now we have to add the 6th note from C MAJOR scale which is A with the existing Arpeggio of C minor.
